No dia 17 de julho teve início mais uma missão da
Associação AMA a VIDA.
Durante um mês, sete voluntários dedicaram-se a
servir as comunidades mais carenciadas da
Diocese de Benguela, em Angola.
Atuaram em áreas essenciais como Saúde,
Agricultura, Construção, Culinária e Educação,
contribuindo de forma concreta para melhorar o
dia a dia local.
Para seis dos voluntários, esta foi a primeira
experiência de voluntariado internacional, vivida
com coragem, entrega e profundo desejo de fazer
a diferença.
A missão foi coordenada por Fátima Ribeiro,
presidente da Associação AMA a VIDA.
On July 17th, another mission of the AMA a VIDA
Association began.
For one month, seven volunteers dedicated
themselves to serving the most disadvantaged
communities of the Diocese of Benguela, in Angola.
They worked in essential areas such as Health,
Agriculture, Construction, Cooking, and Education,
making a tangible contribution to improving daily
life locally.
For six of the volunteers, this was their first
experience of international volunteering, lived with
courage, dedication, and a deep desire to make a
difference. The mission was coordinated by Fátima
Ribeiro, president of the AMA a VIDA Association.
No dia 22 de julho, a presidente da Associação AMA a VIDA assinalou, através de um post online, a inauguração
do Centro de Saúde Dom Amando dos Santos, um projeto concretizado graças à persistência e determinação do
Senhor Bispo Dom António Jaca.
Este marco contou com o contributo generoso de farmácias, laboratórios e amigos, que disponibilizaram
medicamentos e equipamento médico essenciais. Paralelamente, os voluntários responsáveis pela área da
Agricultura desempenharam um papel de grande relevância, prestando formação e apoio aos jovens da Casa do
Gaiato. Com paciência, dedicação e partilha de conhecimentos, ajudaram-nos a adquirir competências que lhes
permitirão aproveitar melhor os recursos que o mundo oferece.
On July 22nd, the president of the AMA a VIDA Association marked the inauguration of the Dom Amando dos Santos
Health Centre, a project made possible thanks to the persistence and determination of Bishop Dom António Jaca.
This milestone was achieved with the generous support of pharmacies, laboratories, and friends who provided
essential medicines and medical equipment. At the same time, the volunteers in the Agriculture area played a key
role, offering training and support to the young people of the Casa do Gaiato.
With patience, dedication, and the sharing of knowledge, they helped them acquire skills that will enable them to
make better use of the resources the world has to offer.
No dia 26 de junho, a Associação AMA a VIDA partilhou nas suas redes sociais um
balanço das atividades realizadas nos últimos dias. Inspirados na ideia de que o
mundo nos oferece constantes oportunidades para nos reinventarmos, foi
dinamizado um workshop de trabalhos manuais com recurso a materiais
reciclados. Objetos de pouco valor transformaram-se em peças úteis e bonitas,
capazes de gerar rendimento para pessoas em situação de necessidade.
Paralelamente, na área da Saúde, a equipa esteve presente no Centro Médico Anjo
da Guarda, no Lobito, onde prestou apoio à comunidade, realizando consultas
para crianças e adultos.
Com emoção, os voluntários da Agricultura despediram-se temporariamente da
Casa do Gaiato. Embora na semana seguinte tenham sido chamados a colaborar
noutros lares, deixaram a promessa de um dia regressar.
On June 26th, the AMA a VIDA Association shared on its social media a summary of
the activities carried out in recent days. Inspired by the idea that the world offers
constant opportunities for reinvention, a workshop on handicrafts using recycled
materials was organised.
Objects of little value were transformed into useful and beautiful items, capable of
generating income for people in need.
At the same time, in the area of Health, the team was present at the Anjo da Guarda
Medical Centre in Lobito, where they supported the community by providing
consultations for children and adults.
With emotion, the Agriculture volunteers temporarily said goodbye to the Casa do
Gaiato. Although the following week they were called to collaborate in other homes,
they left with the promise of one day returning.
No último fim de semana de julho, os voluntários aproveitaram para descansar,
fazer algumas visitas e criar novas amizades, sendo calorosamente recebidos por
todos. No dia 28, iniciou-se uma nova semana de atividades, que começou com
uma visita ao orfanato das Irmãs do Santíssimo Salvador, onde foram acolhidos
pelas meninas que lá vivem, partilhando histórias, conhecimentos e momentos de
alegria.
Para dar o maior apoio possível, os voluntários aprimoraram os seus manuais,
adaptando-os à realidade vivida em Benguela. Houve ainda oportunidade de
partilhar conhecimentos com diretores de escolas da província de Benguela,
através de uma formação sobre técnicas e métodos pedagógicos, com o objetivo
de apoiar o ensino e ajudar os professores a proporcionarem mais oportunidades
de futuro aos seus alunos.
O voluntário Rocha não só partilhou receitas como também aprendeu sobre a
culinária local. Na área da Medicina, as médicas visitaram recém-nascidos ao
domicílio, prestando cuidados e acompanhamento.
On the last weekend of July, the volunteers took the opportunity to rest, make some
visits, and create new friendships, being warmly welcomed by everyone.
On the 28th, a new week of activities began with a visit to the orphanage of the Sisters
of the Most Holy Saviour, where they were welcomed by the girls who live there,
sharing stories, knowledge, and moments of joy.
To provide the greatest possible support, the volunteers refined their manuals,
adapting them to the reality experienced in Benguela.
There was also an opportunity to share knowledge with school principals from the
province of Benguela through a training session on pedagogical techniques and
methods, aimed at supporting education and helping teachers to provide more future
opportunities for their students.
Volunteer Rocha not only shared recipes but also learned about local cuisine. In the
area of Medicine, the doctors visited newborns in their homes, providing care and
follow-up.
No dia 6 de agosto, os voluntários dedicaram o dia à formação das comunidades
nas três áreas centrais desta missão: Educação, Saúde e Agricultura. Com a
convicção de que o conhecimento é a ferramenta mais poderosa de
transformação, investiram na partilha de saberes, no fortalecimento de
competências e na troca de experiências. Esta ação teve como objetivo contribuir
para a construção de um futuro mais justo, sustentável e resiliente, reforçando os
laços que impulsionam o desenvolvimento comunitário em todas as suas
dimensões.
On August 6th, the volunteers dedicated the day to training the communities in the
three central areas of this mission: Education, Health, and Agriculture. With the
conviction that knowledge is the most powerful tool for transformation, they invested
in sharing expertise, strengthening skills, and exchanging experiences. This action
aimed to contribute to building a fairer, more sustainable, and more resilient future,
while reinforcing the bonds that drive community development in all its dimensions.
Nos últimos dias, os voluntários tiveram o privilégio de levar doações a várias comunidades e testemunhar de
perto o impacto que pequenos gestos podem ter na vida de tantas pessoas.
Foi expressa profunda gratidão à Diocese de Benguela, à Congregação dos Missionários do Verbo Divino de
Angola, a todos os padres, irmãs, comunidades, instituições e à Casa do Gaiato de Benguela, que acolheram a
equipa de braços abertos, bem como ao Bispo Dom António Francisco Jaca, pelo convite feito.
Foi também dirigido um agradecimento ao Município de Fafe, à Junta de Freguesia de Fafe e á TransNós
Transportes Lda., pelo apoio prestado à Associação. Foi feito um reconhecimento especial a todos os que
contribuíram com generosas doações de medicamentos e materiais médicos pois este apoio foi fundamental
para que os centros médicos pudessem prestar assistência a quem mais precisa.
Foi também deixado um agradecimento à Dress a Girl Portugal, pelos lindos vestidos e calções que levaram
sorrisos e alegria às crianças.
Por fim, foi dirigido um agradecimento especial a todos os voluntários que, mesmo não estando presentes,
muito trabalharam para tornar possível esta missão, bem como a amigos, familiares e ao grupo Asfalto Friends
Fafe, por todo o apoio e por estarem sempre presentes nos momentos mais desafiantes.
In recent days, the volunteers had the privilege of delivering donations to several communities and witnessing firsthand
the impact that small gestures can have on the lives of so many people.
Deep gratitude was expressed to the Diocese of Benguela, the Congregation of the Missionaries of the Divine Word of
Angola, all the priests, sisters, communities, institutions, and the Casa do Gaiato of Benguela, who welcomed the
team with open arms, as well as to Bishop Dom António Francisco Jaca for his invitation.
Thanks were also extended to the Municipality of Fafe, the Parish Council of Fafe, and TransNós Transportes Lda. for
the support provided to the Association. Special recognition was given to all those who contributed generous
donations of medicines and medical supplies, as this support was essential for the medical centres to be able to
provide assistance to those most in need.
Appreciation was also expressed to Dress a Girl Portugal for the beautiful dresses and shorts that brought smiles
and joy to the children.
Finally, a special thanks was given to all the volunteers who, even without being present, worked hard to make this
mission possible, as well as to friends, family, and the group Asfalto Friends Fafe for all their support and for always
being there in the most challenging moments.
